The Kimberly Recreation Association (KRA) is a non profit organization formed in 1946, and incorporated in 1972, to serve the citizens of the Kimberly Area School District with social and recreational programs.
The KRA has continued to flourish over the years as a result of the tremendous efforts of their Board of Directors, their families, and an enormous volunteer force.
The KRA routinely provides funding and volunteer support for local charities and events. Revenue from concessions sales and other fundraising activities is donated back to the community for such things as improvements to the facilities at Sunset Park and other various activities throughout the Kimberly Area School District.
Community Involvement
The KRA has served as the host to the International Softball Congress (ISC) World Tournament a record eleven (11) times: 1972-1975-1978-1982-1985-1989-1993-1996-1998-2003-2008. The KRA and ISC each celebrated 50 years of service during the 1996 World Tournament. The ISC Hall of Fame is located at the Kimberly Municipal Complex just outside the Library.
The KRA annually awards the Wayne Kilsdonk Scholarship to graduating High School seniors. This scholarship provides $1000.00 in funds for college expenses payable at $250.00 per year over four years. This award is presented to the recipients at the Kimberly High School Senior Awards program.
The KRA annually recognizes individuals who have served the organization as volunteer or significant contributor, in a manner worthy of special recognition. This award is presented at the KRA Annual Meeting held each year in late April.
The KRA has made major contributions over the years to the softball diamonds and concessions stands at Sunset Park. It has also made contributions to the building of the Kimberly Amphitheater and the KHS Fitness Center.
The KRA is also a major sponsor and coordinator of the fireworks display held each year on the 5th of July at Sunset Park in Kimberly.
The Kimberly Recreation Association is always looking for new opportunities to become involved in the community. If you have a special request please contact any one of the KRA Directors listed on this web site.
